Celebrate Recovery North Knox‘ Pastor John Gargis and Lay Leader Dan Laine enrolls as the newest Veteran Friendly Ministry (VFM) in the Veteran/Military Friendly Congregation program.
Fountain City United Methodist Church is the host church for Celebrate Recovery as an outreach and service to the community. Many of the attendees and volunteers attend other churches as well. CR is for all people who have the desire to find freedom from hurts, habits, and hang-ups, whether they are affecting their own life or the lives of people around them.
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ centered biblical based program of recovery for all of those dealing with life’s struggles. Every Tuesday night, we will begin our night with fellowship in our “Sacred Grounds” coffee shop starting at 6:30 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. we will have our contemporary styled worship service. This service includes the reading of the 12 steps with their biblical comparisons, testimonies and then the sharing of the good news of Jesus Christ.
THIS IS A SAFE PLACE
A place with no judgment or condemnation. A place to “get your life back”. Who is celebrate recovery for?
Celebrate Recovery launched over 23 years ago at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif., with only 43 people. Through the loving power of Jesus, Celebrate Recovery is now in more than 29,000 churches worldwide, serving over 2,500,000 people with programs translated into 19 different languages.
The Knoxville Regional Mental Health Council and Vet to Vet Tennessee has agreed to incorporate CR into V2VT’s initial recovery plan as another resource for veterans and their families and friends. During the CR, V2VT Treasurer Ed Junod presented several Vietnam War Commemoration’s (VWC) presidential proclamations and lapel pins to Vietnam Veterans in attendance. A special VWC Certificate of Honor was presented to Pastor John on behalf of his mother for the service and sacrifice of Mr. Gargis. It was heartwarming and emotional
