Faith Encounter Pastor & SMSgt USAF NG TNANG (US) Michael “Mike” E. Williams hosted a Veterans luncheon at his church on Sunday, November 12, 2017.
This ceremony had two purposes:
- Celebrate 2017 Veterans Day with special guest speaker Brig. General Donald L. Johnson
- Honor US Vietnam Army Airborne Veteran James Mc Ginnis who passed away on September 19, 2017 and his surviving spouse Donna and her family
Faith Encounter is a Veteran/Military Friendly Congregation and is supported by Vet to Vet Tennessee (VTVT) who provided the Vietnam War Commemoration (VWC) presidential proclamations and VWC Certificates of Honor.

Brig. General Johnson presented eight Vietnam Veterans with the VWC proclamation and two surviving VWC spouses, Donna Mc Ginnis and Ellen Ankley-Brown with their VWC Certificate of Honor.
VTVT presented Brig General Jackson with two Certificates of Honor for his father Jim Johnson, who served bravely in the US Army Aviation in WW II and the US Air Force during the Korean War. Two other WW II veterans were also honored; Eldon Bivens and Woodrow Ankley. One other Korean veteran was also honored: Roger Blair.
Pastor Mike, General Johnson and the church volunteers provided everyone with a great luncheon and made the day special. Pastor Mike wrote “Thank you for the work you do for the vets and the certificates you handed out Sunday. I know it meant a lot to the recipients.” Click here to view the photos.
God bless Mark Brown and James McGinnis. They will never be forgotten.
