A young Iraq Army veteran, Brandon Flatt and his wife Michelle appeared in the Monroe County Veterans Court (MCVC) today in front of MCVC Judge Dwaine B. Thomas; but not for a hearing. The court is usually packed and filled with attorneys, public defenders, Assistant District Attorneys and those involved in the justice system. Today was different, the courtroom was quite, peaceful and filled with feelings of joy, success and relief.
Brandon was sitting on the first bench next to Michelle. Laughter, jokes and stories were being told as the attendees awaited the Judge. All these strangers in the courtroom just for Brandon. Today was Brandon’s graduation from the MCVC. Brandon entered the program on April 13, 2016. With hard work, a desire to be normal the dream of a wonderful life with his wife and son, the support of the MCVC staff, Helen Ross McNabb Military Services Clinical Therapist John Chandler, Vet to Vet Tennessee Mentor Coordinator Bob Hatley, Brandon graduated.
