American Recovery Plan also waives copayments through September 2021
VA copayments for medical care will be waived, refunded, or forgiven under the American Recovery Plan. If you’re a Veteran who receives care through VA, here’s what this means for you:
- If you received a statement with copayment charges from April 6, 2020, or later, we’ll remove these charges. You won’t need to pay them.
- If you already paid any copay charges from April 6, 2020, or later, we’ll send you a refund.
- If you have unpaid copay charges from before April 6, 2020, you don’t have to make payments until September 30, 2021. We won’t add fees or interest or take other collection action on these charges during this time. But you can still make payments if you’d like. Find out how to pay your VA copay bill.
You don’t need to do anything at this time to get a refund. We ask for your patience as we work to adjust statements and send refunds.

I received two letters from the US DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY on Saturday 11/06/2021 stating that they are going to withhold up to 15% of my SSID checks starting beginning no sooner than 12/21 and the other one no sooner than 01/22.
I have never received any bills from them and have been going to the VA medical since 2006. I don’t get very much money as it is and I’m not sure what I am going to do. Can someone call me and tell me what my options are, if I have any. Thank you.

I should have 2 checks coming. When will I receive??<
Going on two years and I haven’t received my refund from relief package
When will we start recieving a bill from the VA again? I don’t need nor can I afford to have a large bill for copays dropped in my lap for a bunch of months with interest charges and service fees added to it. It’s manageable to make the payments as I go along but a lump sum can be devastating to my disability check.. Thanks, Semper Fi and Merry Christmas.
