September 15, 2017 PBS Vietnam War TV series and the Wall That Heals
This past Sunday 9/17/17 East Tennessee PBS began the broadcast of “The Vietnam War”, a ten-part, 18-hour documentary film series directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. Additionally, “The Wall That Heals” a traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica and mobile education center will be in Knoxville October 4 – 8, 2017.
Vietnam veterans watching this series or visiting The Wall That Heals may feel the need to share their thoughts, feelings and opinions with others, but have limited avenues to do so.

Knowing this, please be aware that Knoxville Vet Center offers a safe and welcoming environment in which they can interact with fellow veterans who understand. Specifically we offer a weekly Vietnam Veteran Group each Wednesday morning. The group is facilitated by Rick Stouffer, LCSW and interested veterans may call Rick at 633-0000 for more information or to register for this group.
Mr. Campbell and Ms. Feeback informed the council that the VA was preparing for negative reactions and triggers caused by the new series. Caution: if you choose to watch this series please make sure you are safe.
