Demonstrating a practical and effective approach to bettering the lives of local veterans, Monroe County Veterans Court and Vet to Vet Tennessee award the progress of seven individuals last month, a celebratory ceremony at the Monroe County Justice Center recognizing growth and healing through mentorship and therapy-centered recovery, Judge Dwaine Thomas returning a “debt of honor” to members of the military by granting a second chance and clean slate to Brock Gordley (Army), Sam McCosh (Marine Corps), James McLean (Air Force), Joseph Newton (Navy), Grace Ritner (Navy), Casey McAlister (Navy), and Mark Stacey (Navy).
Active for more than a decade, Monroe County Veterans Court has a six percent recidivism rate; 94 percent of participants never return to the judicial system. Vet to Vet Tennessee reminds veterans, “You’re worth it, You’re Worth fighting for.”
