Students were given materials and paired with local military veterans to paint in person. This event was led by teacher/artist Dr. Amber Patty, modeling techniques for painting the human portrait. Paintings will be exhibited at the E. G. Fisher Library in Athens for the months of August 2022 for the “Portrait of a Veteran” Exhibit, hosted by the Community Artist League of Athens. Students may pick their artwork up at the conclusion of the exhibition (September 1st at Monroe Area Council for the Arts (MACA).
Dr. Patty posted the following immediately after the event. “We love our veterans! Our artists were able to complete portraits in an hour and a half! Huge thank you to our sponsor, Monroe Area Council for the Arts, Vet to Vet in Madisonville, Mr. Ed Junod and our heroes that were able to offer an image or pose. We love you and thank you for your service!“
