March 12 at the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1123 of Perry County meeting, retiring Veterans Service Officer Dan Riley, President Dale Long, and Vice President Lindy Hester officially presented the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal from South Korea’s Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to the family of Korean War Veteran Russell A. Whitman, Jr. Mr. Whitman passed away November 24, 2025. Accepting the medal on his behalf were his sons, Russell Whitman III and Ron Whitman, along with his wife, Margaret.
For years, Vet to Vet Tennessee has been grateful to Perry County Veterans Service Officer Dan Riley for his dedicated service. Thanks to Dan, more Korean War Veterans Ambassador for Peace recipients have been identified than by most VSOs in Tennessee. God bless the Whitman family and Dan Riley.
