Rain from Hurricane Zeta did not stop Korean War Army Veteran Edward Eugene Bivens and his family from attending the Republic of Korea’s Ambassador For Peace Medal presentation in the Robert “Bob” Hatley Monroe County Veterans Service Center. Mr. Bivens was joined by his immediate family, friends and pastor while Monroe County Mayor Mitch Ingram, Monroe County Service Officer Andy Boyd and members of Vet to Vet Tennessee celebrated Mr. Bivens Korean War Service.
Mr. Bivens served in the US. Army’s Heavy Mortar Company, 30th Infantry Division in the Korean War for 9 months and 27 days. Mr. Bivens was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Camp Star, Combat Infantry Badge and the United Nations Service Medal.
