Speaking at the county Memorial Day ceremony in front of the courthouse on Monday, Tyler Moore told a crowd in Madisonville that the soldiers who died for the freedoms Americans enjoy should not be forgotten. Moore, a U.S. Army veteran, said his grandfather served in the military and experienced conflict.
“An estimated 1.3 million have died in battle for our nation,” Moore said. “The freedoms we all enjoy today are not free.”
Moore read from Ephesians 5:1-2, “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor.”
“We must always remember those who sacrificed their lives for our country,” Moore said. “In closing, honoring the fallen isn’t just a duty; it’s a responsibility. Thousands of veterans continue to suffer from invisible wounds.”
Moore acknowledged Vet to Vet Tennessee, an organization operating in Madisonville that works to improve the lives of veterans. “Without them, I would not be alive today,” Moore said.

According to county mayor Mitch Ingram, Moore served in the infantry from 2009 to 2013 and earned several medals and awards. The Monroe County BUZZ Greg Altum
