Our partner, the Knoxville Area Korean Association (KAKA), held its 23rd Korean War Memorial Luncheon. This organization continues to honor the service and sacrifice of our American Korean War heroes who fought and died to restore freedom to the citizens of South Korea. Over 33,000 gave their lives, and the people of the Republic of South Korea have never forgotten.
We are grateful to KAKA and their President, Gina Wilson, LG, for their gifts and to the many special guests who attend every year.
Here in America, Korean War Veterans were forgotten or demeaned because the war was not a victory. Many referred to the war as "The Forgotten War." It took 47 years to open the Korean War Memorial in Washington, D.C.
However, the people and government of the Republic of South Korea have never forgotten them. 73 years after the war, they continue to honor their service and will “never forget” them or their sacrifice.
The Korean Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs continues to present the highest award, the Ambassador for Peace Proclamation, to Korean War Veterans, living or deceased.
KAKA and Vet to Vet TN will never stop searching for the remaining Korean War Veterans. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, only 10-20% are living. Even more reason for us to continue.
At the Saturday luncheon, only five (5) Korean War Veterans attended. Click here to view some of the photos of the event.
Please help us to identify and recognize their courage and service. God Bless America
