The Monroe County Veterans Service Office and Vet to Vet Tennessee presents a Korean War Ambassador for Peace Medal to Roger Stephens as March ebbed to April, Stephens accepting the distinction on behalf of his late father William Ernest Stephens. W.E. Stephens served as a soldier in the United States Army in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class and highly decorated with a Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal with One Bronze Star, and Combat Infantry Badge. Ambassador for Peace Medals are given by the Republic of South Korea as a token of friendship and respect to U.S. military veterans of the Korean Conflict.
