February 23, 2017, Maryville, Tennessee
Vet to Vet Tennessee began to assist Korean War Veterans on November 3, 2016. On January 21, 2017 Vet to Vet Tennessee submitted an application on behalf of Korean War Veteran Robert Frederick. Mark Frederick is the son of Robert and Commander of AMVETS Post #22 in Maryville, Tennessee.
On February 23, 2017 Robert received his Republic of South Korea’s “Ambassador for Peace” medal and certificate. Mark told us just how honored and proud Robert was when he received the medal. A grateful nation is still honoring the brave brothers and sisters who fought side by side with the Korean soldiers; it appears that the Republic of South Korea is sincere about their gratitude for the support of the Americans.

My dad, John G. Millard received one of these medals. Howe revere he is missing the jump ring piece that allows the medallion to be attached to the chest pin ribbon. How can we get him a replacement?
Sorry to hear about the missing part for your father’s medal. We checked our records and have no record of processing your dad’s medal. Did you receive the medal from Vet to Vet Tennessee? If so, could you please let us know when the medal was received? Thank you for your dad’s service and have a Merry and blest Christmas.
Hello, could you explain to me the difference, if there is one, between the medals that have a straight blue ribbon versus medals shown above with the different colors. Thank you
Good morning Mr. Harinsky. The Ambassador for Peace Medal ribbon and case design was changed in 2020. The six color ribbon was change to a solid blue. The medal and the proclamation remained the same. Are you a Korean War Veteran? If you have any other questions or would like to learn more about the medal please call us at 865-850-8376. Be safe, happy, and blessed.
Thank you for the info. I am not a Korean War vet but my grandfather was. I saw pictures of the medal with the blue ribbon and when I received my grandfather’s I was confused by the multicolored ribbon.
