The East Tennessee Foundation sent a letter to Vet to Vet Tennessee (V2VT) granting an award in support of general operations of the Tenth Judicial TN Veterans Treatment Court program.
Funding for this grant has been provided by the Willson Family Fund established by Mr. Paul G. Willson.
East Tennessee Foundation’s (ETF) field-of-interest and affiliate funds support a competitive grant making process in broad charitable areas including arts and culture, community development, youth-at-risk or a particular East Tennessee county or region (affiliate funds) within the Foundation’s 25-county service area. The 10th Judicial District Veterans Court (VC) began in January 2015 by Monroe County General Sessions Judge Dwaine B. Thomas. Judge Thomas has always had a special place in his heart, especially since his father was a Big Red One Army Vietnam Veteran, and was dedicated to establish a VC in Monroe County. Bradely, McMinn, Monroe and Polk counties are in the 10th Judicial VC.
The participants in the first 10th Judicial District VC range from 22 to 67 year of age; have had charges from a felony to public intoxication and included an active duty officer.
To date, 16 veterans are or have participated in the VC, 10 from Monroe County and 6 from McMinn County; including 6 graduates.
We are grateful to the ETF, Mr. Paul G. Willson and the Willson Family Fund for making the grant available for us to continue to support justice involved veterans.
