June 24, 2023 we celebrated the 20th Annual Korean War Veterans Luncheon sponsored by the Knoxville Area Korean Association (KAKA) and Vet to Vet Tennessee (VTVT). This is our 9th year partnering KAKA and it is truly a blessing.
The event was held at the Knoxville Korean Church. The number of Korean War Veterans are smaller and smaller each year. Over 6 million men and women served in the Korean War. Today, sadly, only 1.2 million are still living. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Korean War Veterans population will be below 200,000 in seven years. Vet to Vet Tennessee challenged everyone in the room to find and recognize our Korean War heroes before they pass.
Guest speakers included Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank, TVTV Vice President Randall Scott and VTVT President Ed Junod.
Thanks to the generosity of LG, a Korean owned company here is Tennessee, five (5) Korean War heroes received free LG washers and dryers. Recipient are Sang Kook Choi of Knoxville, John M. Hodge of Walland, Conley Miracle of New Market, Leroy Rogers of Marvyille and Kyle Stooksbury of Knoxville.
KAKA will to continue to recognize Korean War Veterans and on their 20th anniversary, have decided to include Vietnam War Veterans to the event and will continue in the future.
KAKA presented a special gift bag to each Korean and Vietnam Veteran, VTVT provided each Korean War Veteran with a VTVT “You’re Worth It” tee-shirt.
This event gives each Veteran the honor and respect they deserve for defending the South Korean & America’s freedom. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. God bless our Veterans and KAKA for providing another patriotic and loving event.
The next event will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2023 hosted by KAKA. Hope to see you there! Welcome Home.
