On March 24, 2015, the East Tennessee
Veterans Treatment Court Committee and James T. Karney, Executive Director, Family Mediator, Tennessee &
Kentucky, CoParenting Solutions, Inc. started the VTC movement in Roane
County.
Mr. Karney met and discussed the merits of a VTC with Judge Denis Humphrey. "I look forward to creating a plan to assist our veterans. Thank you. Judge Denis Humphrey".
James is currently working with the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Justice Outreach Specialist Torrie Dorschug, the Roane County Sheriff, Chief Deputy and the Jail Lieutenant. Jim is working on an introduction to the Loudon County Sheriff, and has already spoken to the judge there.
James Karney is one of 30 VTC Mentors who graduated on
April 10, 2015 and will assume the 9th Judicial District VTC Mentor
Coordinator position.
According to the Department of Veterans Affairs National
Center for Veterans Analysis and Statistics, the Ninth Judicial District
veteran population is 13,972 in 2015.
