On October 23, 2019 at the Monroe County Veterans Court (MCVC), 83 year old Army Veteran, James Garren graduated with honors. This is the seventh justice involved veteran (JIV) that graduated from the Monroe County Veterans Court this year. The courtroom was filled with tears, joy and gratitude .
The courtroom was filled with city and county government officials, businessmen, citizens and VTVT mentors to celebrate with the oldest JIV in the MCVC. Supporters in the court included State Representative Lowell Russell, Monroe County Mayor Mitch Ingram, Monroe County Tommy Jones, City Mayor Glenn Moser, Monroe County Veterans Service Officer Andy Boyd and Sweetwater VFW Commander Wayne Grayson. Judge Dwaine Thomas acknowledged the hard work expended by James and his Veterans Court team especially James’ Helen Ross McNabb Military Services Center Clinical Therapist Lisa Wilkerson and businessmen Luke Bright and Jim Fowler.
