Vet to Vet Tennessee, a 501c3 charity, presents its signature Veteran Specific Question, Persuade, Refer (VSQPR) Gatekeeper program that includes suicide awareness and prevention training. All Vet to Vet Tennessee’s (VTVT)’s peer mentors are VSQPR gatekeeper certified and several are QPR Institute certified QPR Instructors.
Every month, dozens of veterans, service members, and military families reach out to fellow military families and to VTVT seeking assistance to talk to another Veteran, service member, or civilian who understands what they are going through.
Training Overview:
We have partnered with the QPR Institute to offer online training to you as a Peer Mentor. QPR’s Gatekeeper course is taught in a clear, concise format using the latest in educational technology and practices. The course takes approximately one hour to complete.
KEY COMPONENTS COVERED IN TRAINING:
- How to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal
- How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide
- The common causes of suicidal behavior
- The warning signs of suicide How to get help for someone in crisis
- VTVT was first to develop VSQPR by certified VTVT instructors
Registration Options –
Option 1. Veteran Specific QPR training live. 60 or *90 minutes
FREE course is taught by QPR instructors and veteran gatekeepers. The course includes Tennessee resources, a free QPR booklet, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Tennessee Suicide Prevention (TSPN) material, and a VTVT presentation handout and role-playing. FREE VTVT VSQPR live presented at your location. Minimum ten (10) attendees (veteran and/or civilians) 60 & *90 minutes
Option 2. Online QPR Institute VSQPR training. Approximately 90 minutes
QPR also has a Veteran specific QPR online course. This 6+ hour training program is designed by veterans for veterans, and for those who know, love, and counsel them. Its single purpose is to prevent suicide among veterans, soldiers in our National Guard or military reserves, and active military warriors. Learn what you can do to prevent veteran suicide. If unable to attend our free courses, the training is available online with the QPR Institute with a veterans discount.

Option 3. “You’re Worth It” faith-based, comedy, musical, and drama play specially designed for youth and veterans. Vet to Vet Tennessee developed the play in 2019 and has had several performances.
